Sharing the Harvest was founded in 1993 by
First Baptist Kingsland.
Over the years area churches, community groups, businesses and individuals have supported this beautiful ministry with financial contributions, food
donations and volunteers.
In 2016 we served an average of
377 families per month, with a total of around 1,140 individuals per month.
This is a 55% increase in individuals
served since 2014.
Sharing the Harvest is an
ecumenical, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing food to
families in need throughout theHighland Lakes area.
Our goal is to provide healthy and nutritious food to families in our community.
A Social Service Outreach Coordinator provides monthly in-person consultations and application assistance for state-administered and federally-funded social services and health care programs. Programs included are SNAP (food stamps), Medicaid, CHIP (children’s health insurance program), TANF (temporary assistance to needy families), Perinatal Woman’s Health Program (18-44 yrs old), Medicare Savings Program Application Asistance.
Partnered with Sharing the Harvest at the same location and time, is a beautiful clothing closet. King’s Closet accepts donated clothing, displays it in a store like atmosphere, and freely gives it away. Volunteers will assist you in finding the clothing needed for you and your family.
